CLEVELAND — The Browns open their 2018 preseason schedule on the road against the New York Giants, and will host the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles in a nationally-televised game.

The preseason schedule features some interesting story lines, with the Browns and Giants owning the No. 1 and No. 2 picks in the draft.

The Giants game also features the head coaching debut of former Browns head coach Pat Shurmur.

Here's the four-game schedule:

n Week 1 (August 9-13): at New York Giants

n Week 2 (August 16-20): vs. Buffalo

n Week 3 (August 23): vs. Philadelphia (Thursday FOX national game, 8 p.m.)

n Week 4 (August 30-September 1): at Detroit

Exact dates and times will be announced in the near future. The league is also expected to release the regular-season schedule later this month.

In the second game, Browns starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor will face Buffalo, the team that traded him to Cleveland just before the start of free agency. Taylor went 22-20 in his four seasons as the Bills' starter.

In week three the Browns might get another firsthand look at Carson Wentz, the quarterback they traded away from in 2016. Wentz, coming off a torn ACL, went 11-2 with the Eagles last season before suffering the season-ending knee injury.

Nick Foles stepped in and finished the job, leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory over the Patriots.

In the final game, the Browns and Lions will rekindle the Great Lakes Classic, and perhaps dust off the barge trophy that goes to the winner.

The Browns went 4-0 in preseason last year, and then 0-16 in the regular season.

They will not face any of their 2018 preseason foes in the regular season this year.

The Browns also announced that 30-year sports broadcast veteran and longtime Browns fan Jay Crawford and former Browns quarterback Tim Couch will call the three locally-televised games on News 5. The Eagles game will be shown nationally on FOX.

Jim Donovan and Doug Dieken will call games together for their 20th season on the Browns radio network.
