Area residents looking for a variety of fun-filled activities should make their way to the 2015 Maple City Rocktoberfest on Saturday in downtown Norwalk.

The event begins with registration for the Pet N Pup Parade at 11:15 a.m., at Main Street School, followed by judging at 11:30 and the downtown parade at noon.

Age groups for the parade are 2 and younger, 3 to 5, 6 to 8, 8 to 10 and 11 to 13.

Prizes will be awarded to a boy and girl in each age group category.

There is also a “Best Family” category.

The crowning of the 2015 king and queen will also take place.

Anyone with questions can call Niki Cross, recreation director, at 419-663-6775, ext. 26.

The Rocktoberfest runs through 6 p.m.

The festival also features live music, food vendors, scarecrow contest, children’s events, Main Street art walk and the Imagine chili challenge.

Chris Castle, event organizer for the Norwalk Economic Development Corp., said a tour of the fire station will take place from noon to 4 p.m.

Downtown shops are expected to be open during the festival.

Musical groups Common Grounds, the Locals, C-Level and Hip to That are scheduled to play throughout the course of the day in front of the Huron County courthouse.

There is no admission fee to the festival.

“But, pony rides (on Hester Street) and pumpkin patch will be ticketed events,” Castle said. “There will be $1 to $2 tickets sold at the entry to each of those.”
