St. Paul junior high girls win FC meet

PLYMOUTH — The St. Paul girls junior high cross country team won the Firelands Conference championship meet on Saturday at Mary Fate Park in Plymouth.

St. Paul scored 55 points, which was just ahead of New London (62) and Crestview (68). Mapleton (80), Western Reserve (86) and Monroeville (163) rounded out the team scoring.

Megan Lesch (13:45.59) was third overall to pace the Lady Flyers, while teammate Adele Dowdell (14:01.99) was fifth. Rounding out the St. Paul scoring included Isabel Gross (12th, 14:43.92), Grace Kluding (16th, 14:53.21), Jadyn Smith (19th, 15:01.68), Chloe Smith (20th, 15:02.06) and Isabel Howerton (21st, 15:02.83).

Alyssa Henry (14:13.78) and Reese Landis (14:32.47) placed sixth and seventh to lead New London, while Clara Good (14:39.52) was ninth. Also scoring for the Wildcats was Madison Smith (13th, 14:46.30), Emma McCully (28th, 16:04.58)and Madielyn Harrison (35th, 17:02.12).

Anastin Hoover was second overall in 13:30.01 to pace Western Reserve, as Crestview’s Georgia McFarland won in 13:22.45.

Also for Western, Kelsey Lasch (14:36.83) was eighth, followed by Rachel Pippert (15th, 14:51), Rylee Weiser (26th, 15:53.48), Haley West (38th, 18:19.15), Hazel Green (43rd, 21:48.30) and Jackie Houtchings (44th, 22:04.99).

Monroeville’s Lilly Brotzki was 27th (15:57.81), followed by Ava Kreuger (32nd, 16:33.94), Avery Rosser (36th, 17:08), Sydnee Parr (37th, 18:13.2), Emily Scheid (39th, 19:00.28), Anessa Ruggles (40th, 19:07.76) and Destiny Saam (41st, 20:10.5).

In the boys race, Mapleton was first with 29 points. Crestview was second (34), followed by St. Paul (90), Western (103) and New London (111).

Seth Ridge was 13th (13:07.4) for the Flyers, followed by Nolan McCall (16th, 13:36.5), Fletcher Ross (19th, 13:59.22), Everett Gfell (25th, 14:12.7), Spencer Smith (31st, 14:30.74), Luka Cuturic (40th, 15:54.13) and Luke Marsh (45th, 17:18.79).

Blake Caudill was 12th (12:55.59) for Western Reserve, followed by Robert Murdock (21st, 14:07.88), Isaiah Wells (24th, 14:11.93), Diesel Pippert (26th, 14:13.12) and Connor Reep (38th, 15:17.98).

New London was paced by Jalen Randelman (12:45.83) in ninth. Mason Cowie (28th, 14:16.44), Aiden Degroat (29th, 14:19.20), Keith DeLong (32nd, 14:37.93), Max Smith (36th, 15:13.67) and Ethan Geist (41st, 16:14.26) rounded out the scoring for the ‘Cats.

Monroeville’s Ian Patchen was the top area finisher in third place (12:12.03). Also for the Eagles, Dan Herring (14:09.99) was 22nd, followed by Julian Bastardo (30th, 14:21.93) and Brock Bores (42nd, 16:46.70).

Malachi Keefe was eighth for Shiloh (12:45.58).
