Heroin defendant sentenced to prison

A heroin defendant who tampered with evidence has been sentenced to prison.

Blake A. Vick, 27, formerly of 33 Morley Drive, was sentenced Thursday to 12 months in prison for one count each of possession of heroin and tampering with evidence. He also must reimburse the Norwalk Police Department $160 for drug testing. The incidents happened Oct. 9.

During an early May plea hearing, prosecutors dismissed one charge each of possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway also revoked Vick’s $10,000 bond for an undisclosed reason.

In other hearings: 

• Treva M. Campbell, 36, formerly of 38-A Newton St., was sentenced Thursday to successfully complete a four- to six-month term at a community-based corrections facility (CBCF) for an undisclosed probation violation. Conway also ordered her to continue on her previous terms of community control. Campbell’s underlying conviction is aggravated possession of methamphetamine. A CBCF is a form of prison which focuses on substance abuse treatment and education.

• Bryan K. Eastman Jr., 24, most recently Norwalk, was sentenced Wednesday to a 90-day discretionary jail sentence and fined $250 for attempted failure to notify authorities of his address change. His probation officer can impose part or all of the jail term at any time without a hearing during his three years of probation.

• Cody D. Foster, 26, of Tiffin, was sentenced Thursday to successfully complete a four- to six-month term at a CBCF for an undisclosed probation violation. He will continue on his previous terms of community control. Foster’s underlying convictions are one count each of trespassing in a habitation and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

• Joni I. Klein, 40, most recently of 28 Bouscay Ave., Apt. D, was sentenced Thursday to a 90-day discretionary jail sentence for aggravated trafficking in Percocet with a juvenile present. She will be on three years of probation. 

• Mallory A. Kucinic, 20, of Shelby, was fined $5,000 Wednesday and sentenced to a 90-day discretionary jail sentence for aggravated trafficking in fentanyl. She also must reimburse the Willard Police Department $40 for drug testing during her three years of probation.

• Timothy T. Urich Jr., 23, whose address was unavailable, was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in the Huron County Jail for an undisclosed probation violation. He also was unsuccessfully terminated from probation. Urich’s underlying conviction was theft of a motor vehicle.

• Kirk C. Wilber, 46, most recently of 47 Marshall St., was sentenced Thursday to a 90-day discretionary jail sentence for possession of a fentanyl-related compound. During his three years of probation, he must pay a $500 fine.
