“It’s all about doing the right thing. … When you’re doing the right thing, good things happen,” said Tom Sharpnack after accepting GM Mark of Excellence award Tuesday.
In order to be considered for the award, Sharpnack Chevrolet/Buick/Cadillac must have achieved a year-over-year sales increase. The dealership also had to have “excellent reviews from customer satisfaction surveys for vehicle purchases and service department visits,” according to information about the award from GM.
Of Sharpnack’s Chevrolet, Ford and credit center locations, the common theme is affordable, personalized and compassionate customer service.
Most notably perhaps, are the benefits offered to anyone who brings their vehicle in for service — whether it was purchased at Sharpnack or not.
“Our customers are paramount,” said the owner, who noted choosing not meet customers’ expectations and needs isn’t an option. “We need to do everything we can to reach people.”
Ben Winner, a Chevrolet representative from Frostburg, Md., presented Sharpnack with the award, which only went to 150 dealerships out of 3,300 eligible businesses.
“It goes to dealers that perform above and beyond. … Only select dealers win the award,” Winner said. “(Sharpnack is) a multi-year winner and do extremely well.”
“We’ve been blessed with this (award) for 27 years,” Sharpnack said. “(But) I must say that it really began in 1949 when my father (Joseph) began serving people in Vermilion.”
To celebrate the recognition, Sharpnack Chevrolet/Buick/Cadillac, Ford and General Motors locations are having a “Car-be-que” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature food from Bone Boy’s BBQ about noon.
