NORWALK — Jerome and Carolyn Proctor are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Proctor, of Lafollette, Tenn., married the former Carolyn Pheifer, a native of Collins, on July 6, 1968, at St. Paul’s Church, Norwalk.

They are the parents of Darlene Polcwiartek, of Toledo; Brian Proctor, of Mansfield; Tina Nicolai, of Adrian, Mich.; and Jill Penrose, of Findlay. They have seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The couple, who are both retired, shared some secrets to their long marriage. From Carolyn, “letting him tinker in the garage, and traveling” have worked well. Jerome cited, “patience and saying, ‘yes, dear.’”

Carolyn has especially enjoyed watching their children grow, their grandchildren’s events, and traveling to many places. Jerome also mentioned cruises they have taken, a riverboat cruise, and trips, such as to the Bahamas from their children for their 25th wedding anniversary, Alaska, Ireland, Paris, and many more to come.

The couple, who met at Fanny Farmer’s in Norwalk, enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, Senior Center travel and activities, camping, going to the movies and visiting flea markets.

They will be celebrating with a special trip, just for the two of them.
