NORWALK — Bill and Claranne Schick, of Norwalk, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Schick, a native of Monroeville, married the former Claranne Lynch, of Norwalk, on May 11, 1968, at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church in Norwalk. Fr. Dennis Schroeder officiated the ceremony.

The couple are the parents of Debbie (Joe) Conti, of Mason, and Angie (Dennis) Charville, of Toledo. They have four grandchildren.

Mr. Schick is retired from the U.S. Postal Service and from part-time employment with NAPA Auto Parts. Mrs. Schick is retired from Wendy’s.

The couple credits their long marriage to being considerate and putting each other first.

“The rest was up to God, allowing us to see each new day,” they said. “We’ve been blessed. Any time we’ve been able to spend with family has always been special. Together we’ve also enjoyed trips to NASCAR races and a lot of fun with the old car hobby.”

A special blessing from Fr. Gilbert Mascarenhas at the 6 p.m. Mass on May 12 is being planned, along with a small get-together at home afterward. A family vacation is being planned for later in the summer.
