CLEVELAND - William “Casey” E. Rupp, age 84, of Norwalk, died Monday evening, September 8, 2008 at Huron Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born February 16, 1924 in Norwalk, a 1942 graduate of St. Paul High School and 1949 graduate of Bowling Green State University. He served in the US Army from 1943 until 1945 during World War II, and received the Purple Heart and combat infantry badge.
He was an accountant, office manager and corporate treasurer for the former A.J. Baltes, Inc. for 27 years, Paul E. Bleile Co. for 4 years, and Lake Erie Construction for 7 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 626 in Norwalk, and life member of VFW Post 2743 and the DAV, volunteer at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, driver for Meals on Wheels, St. Paul Booster member, and the church’s heavenly dusters and its adoration chapel.
He is survived by his children, Patricia A. Cook of Norwalk, William E. (Karen) Rupp II of Lorain, and Mark (Cathy) Rupp of Norwalk; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas C. Rupp; sister, Patricia A. (Jim) Westerhold; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude A. (Roth) Rupp in 1999; siblings, Rev. Elmer V. Rupp, Richard E. Rupp, Winifred H. Rupp, John P. Rupp Jr., Hope Mary Rupp, James B. Rupp, Ruth A. Rupp and Rita M. Strader
Friends may call on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Paul Cemetery.
