COLLINS Kenneth E. "Wimp" Jenkins, 74, of Collins, died Tuesday morning at his home.
He was born June 11, 1932 in Norwalk to the late Clarence and Dorothy C. (Robinson) Jenkins and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a veteran of the Army, serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2743 of Norwalk, and was also a member of Eagles Aerie No. 711, American Legion Post No. 41 and Norwalk Moose Lodge No. 1248. He retired in 1994 from Clevite in Milan after working for 34 years. He also worked at the Papermill in Avery and Ford Motor Company in Sandusky. He enjoyed stock car racing, fishing, travel, was a Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna J. (Krontz) Jenkins of Collins; sons and daughters-in-law, David D. and Laura Myers of Collins, Wayne E. Jenkins of Collins, Ernest G. and Stephanie Jenkins of Norwalk and David B. Bowling of New London; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra L. and Brian Pflieger of Norwalk, Dawn R. and Dave Baker of Collins, Denise M. Doughty of Norwalk, Donita R. and Gary Evans of Sandusky, Jodie L. Lynch of Norwalk, Judy K. and Bill Palmer of Sandusky and Donna J. Bowling of New London; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest H. and Donna Jenkins of Norwalk, Ohio; a sister, Ethel G. Signs of Mosquite, Texas; 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, James, and Ross Jenkins; a son-in-law, Richard Doughty; and a sister, Treva Sax.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Fred Wiechers, pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
