NOCTOR, Ky. — Ray D. Back Sr., age 74, of Noctor, Ky., went home to Jesus Wednesday, June 11, 2008 after a long illness.
He was the son of the late L.D. “Laz” Back and Viola Brown Black.
He was a member of the United Baptist Church at Guage, where his father served as pastor for 40 years.
He retired from Van Dresser Corp. in Norwalk, Ohio where he was a machine repairman.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Maxine Caudill Back of Noctor; one daughter, Monica and Ray Baxter of Willard, Ohio; three sons, Ray D. Back Jr. of Hindman, Ky.; Richard D. Back of Noctor and James and Nancy Back of Noctor; one granddaughter, Amanda and Jackson Gallaway of England; three grandsons, Troy and Laura Baxter of Willard; Roman D. Back of Somerset, Ky. and Ray Daniel and Jessica Back of Norwalk; three great grandchildren, Morgan Baxter of Willard; Tyler Baxter of Willard and Ryan Daniel Back of Norwalk; a sister, Cleda Childers of Jorth Judson, Ind.; six brothers, Freeman Back of Jackson, Ky., Stephen Lee Back of Salyersville, Ky., Roy Back of Norwalk, Chalmer Back of Wright City, Mo., Russell Back of Cincinnati and Kenneth Back of Noctor; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Trusty, Greg Trusty, David Back, Stephen Back, Samuel Back, Michael Back, Kim Back and Kenny Lee Back. Honorary pallbearers are special neighbors and friends Larry and Tina Hensley as well as other neighbors and friends.
The funeral will be Friday, June 13 at noon at the Breathitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hobert Dunn and Rev. Gordon Little officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery in Noctor. Breathitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
