NORWALK — John M. McLarty, 72, of Norwalk, died Sunday morning at Lorain Community Health Partners.
He was born Jan. 22, 1936 in Eustis, Fla. to the late John and Samanthe (Boland) McLarty and lived in the Norwalk area for 47 years.
He was a member of the North Point Baptist Church of Sandusky; Marks Lodge 359, Huron; Commandeering Council, Norwalk; Scottish Rite, Norwalk; National Boilermakers Union 744, Cleveland; Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 50, Huron; Dads of the VFW, Norwalk, and the Harley Owners Group (HOG) of Monroeville.
He loved to ride his Harley and was often seen around town on a bike heavily adorned with large bull horns. He also enjoyed flying his own plane and tinkering.
He is survived by his son, John of Williamstown, N.J.; his daughter, Debbie (James) McLarty Hebert of Rio Rancho, N.M.; his long time companion Marilyn Pendleton of Norwalk; his sister, Evelyn Wade, of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth and by his sister, Georgella McLarty.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Wally Gilbert officiating.
Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
