BERLIN HEIGHTS — Melanie Rena (Hemmer) Jensen, 34, of Berlin Heights, died Friday at her home.
She was born Jan. 18, 1974, in Sandusky, the daughter of Melvin and Donna Hemmer. She was a 1992 graduate of Margaretta High School and also graduated from the EHOVE School of Nursing, earning her Licensed Practical Nursing degree.
She was employed at the Ohio Veteran's Home as an MDS nurse.
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She attentively followed her daughter's activities, and also enjoyed riding motorcycles with the family. She took a special interest in baking and sewing. She was a loving mother, daughter and sister and always brought a smile to others.
In addition to her parents, Mel and Donna of Castalia, she is survived by her daughters, Ciara, Marissa and Victoria; her maternal grandfathers, Richard (Sandy) Ross of Sandusky and Kenneth Grooms of Portsmouth; a sister, Jacqueline (Michael) Linden of Castalia; a brother, Zachary (Shannon) Hemmer of Castalia; nieces and a nephew, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Her husband, Thomas William Jensen, also died Friday.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ethel Ross, and maternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Hemmer.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Chris Kardzis officiating. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery.
