PLYMOUTH — Eugene O. Roeder, 80, of Plymouth, died Monday at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. 

He was born May 18, 1927 in Findlay to the late Oswald “Hoot” and Cleora (Slaughterbeck) Roeder. He was a Willard resident for many years later moving to Plymouth.

He was a butcher and meatcutter, having worked with the former Pat Wilcox IGA in Willard and retired from Mack’s Foodland in Plymouth.

He was a veteran of the Army, having served in World War II.

He was a member of the Plymouth American Legion, the Willard Masonic Lodge and enjoyed camping and his CB radio using the handle “Copperhead.”  

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hershiser) Roeder, whom he married June 29, 1974; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Marvin Cok of Spartanburg, S.C.; four stepchildren and spouses, Deborah and Ken Johnston of Bloomdale; Kelly and Kathy Kimble of St. Robert, Mo.; Michael Kimble of Plymouth; Debra “Toi” Miller of Cygnet; two grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita (Burger) Roeder in 1974.

  A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth with the Rev. Leonard Shatkus officiating. A private committal service will be held later in Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth.

 Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Plymouth-Shiloh Athletic Boosters. Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth assisted the family with arrangements.
