 Maria H. "Mia" Ames, 76, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in her home.

She was born March 1, 1937 in Frankfort, Germany to the late Gustav and Christiana (Abt) Bauer and came to the United States in 1958 as a G.I. war bride, and came to this area in 1957 from Coshocton, Ohio.

Mia was a member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Queen Esther Chapter #15 Order of Eastern Star, Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and the Over the Waves Club. She was a former employee of Freudenberg, N.O.K. in Milan, Ohio.

Mia enjoyed camping, traveling, swimming, sewing, cooking, and gardening. She especially loved God and her church, her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandson, babies, and old people.

Mia felt her greatest gifts that God gave her was her husband, Ad, her children, Yvonne and Brian, her grandchildren, Abbey and Rachel, her great grandson, Lincoln, and her grand dog, Amos.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Adlai D. Ames, of Norwalk, Ohio, and by her children, Brian and Mary Ames of North Fairfield, Ohio and Yvonne and Barry Livengood of Norwalk, Ohio, two granddaughters, Abbey Felzke and Rachel Livengood, by her great grandson, Lincoln Felzke, and by her nieces, Ursula Staudte of Oberursel, Germany, and Conny Bachmann of Dreieich, Germany.

Mia was preceded in death by her brother, Emil Bauer of Frankfurt, Germany, and by her sister, Dora Seel of Frankfurt, Germany, and by her grandson, Nathaniel Livengood.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, 60 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Brian Oglesbee will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
