NEW LONDON — Florence Louise “Babe” (Yontz) Simon, 74, of New London and formerly of Huron, died Tuesday in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
She was born Jan. 21, 1932 in Sandusky and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1950.
She worked for Philco of Sandusky and retired from Norstat of Norwalk in 1995. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron and enjoyed camping, crocheting and her dogs and cats.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert J. Simon; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. and Kevin Howard of Sandusky; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Margie Simon of Norwalk; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and James Kromer of Vermilion and Sharon and Frank Bolda of Berlin Hts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Nelta (Rickard) Yontz; and a brother, Henry “Buss” Yontz.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron.
