NORWALK Phyllis J. Ackerman, 63, of Norwalk, died Monday in her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 2, 1943 in Norwalk and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norwalk and was employed at Plastic Molding Supply (Poly One) in Norwalk for 36 years and had also worked for Freudenberg-Nok in Milan.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Gene C. Ackerman of Norwalk; a son and daughter-in-law, Cory J. and Jennie Ackerman of Muskegon, Mich.; three grandchildren; mother, Leona Risner of Norwalk; a brother, Jeffrey Risner of Norwalk; and a sister, Lois Cherry of Norwalk.

She was preceded in death by her father, Orville Risner in 1991; brothers, Floyd (Pete) Risner in 1994 and Cliff Risner in 1951.

There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Speier will officiate. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk is in charge of the arrangements.

Gene I'm so sorry to have read that Phyllis has past on. My heart and prayers are with you at this time. I think of you often and am truly sorry for your loss. She was much to young to have left us. I hope your doing well.
