WAKEMAN Richard N. Simon Sr., 68, of Wakeman, died Monday in his home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1938 in Norwalk to the late Norman A. and Loretta (Ackerman) Simon and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a veteran, serving with the Army from 1958 to 1960 and with the National Guard for two years. He was a former member of Ken Bur Bell Post No. 41 American Legion. He was a former truck driver for Batesville Casket Company in Norwalk and retired in 2000 from Tenneco Inc. in Milan. He enjoyed fishing, reading, model trains and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith A. (Bebee) Simon of Wakeman; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard N. and Marilyn Simon Jr. of Wakeman; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and William Welfle of Norwalk and Kathleen and Michael Johnson of Wakeman; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Don Hansberger of Norwalk, Marcella and Charles Henry of Norwalk and Norma and Gene Missler of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Simon.
There will be no public visitation. Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
