 Elizabeth A. "Betty" Strohm, age 78, resident of Plymouth died Sunday morning, October 27, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 4, 1934 in Bellevue she was the daughter of Sylvester and Estelle (Missler) Didion. A homemaker, she was also employed 27 years at the Shelby Daily Globe retiring in 2009.

Betty was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and lived in the Plymouth area since her marriage to Weldon E. Strohm on August 28, 1952. She was also a member of Arbor Day Foundation, National Audubon Society, National Wildlife Federation, Nature Conservancy, ASPCA and Easter Seals.

A Cleveland Indians fan, she cherished her kids and grandkids and enjoyed cooking, baking, and working puzzles. Betty loved animals, especially her cats, Zoe, Ziggy and Tommy.

Survivors include two sons, Rick (Joan) Strohm of Pattersonville, NY and Weldon, Jr. "Butch" (Justine) Strohm of Plymouth; two daughters, Judy (Darryl Runkle) Risner of Plymouth and Peggy (Dane) Howard of New London; her daughter-in-law, Josie Strohm of Willard; 16 grandchildren, Wendy (Jason Simonis) Risner, Eric (Terri) Risner, Jedediah, Heather, Nathan, Tabitha, Zachariah, Derrinda, Ethan and Larissa Strohm, Terry (Amy) Ortiz, Luke and Mark Strohm, Jeremy, Serena and Seth Howard; three great-grandchildren, Chandler and Christopher Ortiz and Natalie Jo Strohm; three step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren; eight siblings; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Strohm, Sr. in 2009; three sons, Terry, Randy and Rodney Strohm, one daughter, Sally Jo Strohm, and six siblings.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, November 1, 2013 from the First Lutheran Church in Shelby. Reverend Russel Yoak will officiate with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Plymouth. Friends may call at Barkdull Funeral Home Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
