SANDUSKY — Margaret (Waldron) Ward Smith, 82, of Berlin Heights, died Tuesday at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

She was born Jan. 5, 1925 in Berlin Township, and had lived here her whole life.

She was a graduate of Berlin Heights High School and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in Columbus during World War II.

She was a singer at the former Neil House Restaurant in Columbus and performed with the Columbus Light Opera Company. She sang in the first recorded Pepsi commercial on Columbus radio. She was a member of the AMVETS in Vermilion.

She loved animals and nature, especially cats and dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Barry; daughters Nancy (Gary) Cornthwaite, of Oxford and Betsy Kahoilua, of Hilo, Hawaii; a sister, Helen Waldron, of Vermilion; a brother, Jim (Faye) Waldron, of Berlin Heights; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her first husband Bill (Delaine); and many good friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Margaret (Bogart) Waldron; a son, Ted Ward; a grandson, Kai Kahoilua; a sister Marion; a brother, Howard; and many pets.  

Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights, where a tribute service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
