COLLINS - Ray “Butch” Springer, 66, of Collins, died with his family by his side Sunday at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky after a sudden illness.
He was born April 7, 1941 in Bellevue, son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Bilger) Springer. He retired in 1993 from Delphi, a division of General Motors, in Sandusky after 25 years of service. His interests were restoring garden tractors and computer projects.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Tuck), whom he married July 30, 1960; daughter and son-in-law, Nancee and Eric Seitz; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Barb Springer; brothers, Irvin, Robert and Elwood Springer; sisters, Mardell Morgenstern, Arla Forney, Rosella Kiesel and Elaine Gibson; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sons, Ricky and Dean Springer; brothers, Dale and Don Springer; and sisters, Pauline Springer, Eunice Norman and Betty Weller.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, where a funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Roy Harless officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery in Bellevue.
