WAKEMAN - Norman Garrett Nestor, 76, a long-time resident of Wakeman, died Sunday at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born May 7, 1931 in Norwalk, where he lived until he graduated from Norwalk High School in 1949. He attended Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio and Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Mich.

He went to work as a field office manager for A.J. Baltes Inc. in Norwalk for 26 years and with the former Roger Au Construction in Mansfield, and he retired from Chapin and Chapin in Norwalk after working there 18 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, making birdhouses, gardening, and home canning. He was a member of the Norwalk Moose, a social member of the Knights of Columbus in Norwalk, and the Norwalk Eagles 711.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Florence (Robinson); children and their spouses, Deborah (Daniel) Staskiews of Brooklyn, Ohio, John Nestor of Norwalk, and Linda (Bernard Gustwiller) Nestor-West of Swanton; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorain and Iva (Bowerize) Nestor.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Edgar Shelly officiating. Burial will follow in Wakeman Cemetery.
