NORWALK Eleanor E. Tucker, 74, of Norwalk, died early Friday morning at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 5, 1933 in Cincinnati, and came to this area in 1957 from there.
She graduated from Anderson High School in Hamilton County, Ohio attended Miami University for one year and received her bachelor of science degree from The Ohio State University. She worked for a short period of time at the old Memorial Hospital on West Main Street in Norwalk before starting her family. Later she did substitute teaching for several years before returning to her chosen profession as an ASCP Registered Medical Technologist at Fisher-Titus Medical Center where she retired in 1995 after 18 years of service.
She was a long time member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norwalk where she had served on church council, taught catechism, and was an active member of the Charity Circle and the Women's Christian Service Day.
She was a long time member of the Norwalk Garden Club and the Round About Reading Club.
She was an active community volunteer and supported her children's and grandchildrens' activities, had an insatiable curiosity for knowledge and enjoyed flower gardening, crafts and her computer.
She is survived by her husband, Carlos F. Tucker, whom she married Feb. 9, 1957; daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Steve Sares of Sylvania, and Linda Tucker of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Bauer in 1983; and mother, Lina (Renner) Bauer in 1991.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, where a funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Wiechers officiating. Internment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.
