TOLEDO - Vivian M. (Towne) Gerten, 84, of Toledo and formerly of Norwalk, died Tuesday, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 1, 1923 in Tiffin. She lived in Norwalk for more than 45 years and recently relocated to Toledo with her daughter. She worked as a counselor at the Sandusky Ohio Veteran's Home, retiring in 1996, and was a past member of the Christian Women's Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hartman of Toledo; a sister, Mary Helen Towne of Huntingon, W.Va.; a granddaughter, grandson, great-granddaughter and great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Gerten; parents, Charles and Stella Towne; a son, Michael Allen Gerten in 1981; a son-in-law, Robert Hartman in 1997; and brothers, Robert Towne, Paul Towne and Patrick Towne.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Kenneth Lill, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Norwalk.
