Jean M. Walek, 95, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in Twilight Gardens Home.
She was born May 8, 1917 in Moffitsville, New York to the late John B. and Lillian (Roscoe) Perrotte. Jean was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was the former director of the Junior Mission Band. She was also a life member of the Huron County Historical Society, and was a former member of the Ladies Aid Society, Farm Women's Club, the Firelands Senior Center, Golden Agers, and was the former activities coordinator of the old Norwalk Memorial Home. Jean was a columnist for the Norwalk Reflector for 15 years, was a former volunteer at Fisher-Titus Medical Center with over 11,000 hours, and had worked at the former Mason Shoppe in Norwalk, Ohio. She enjoyed crafts and helping her late husband, Carl, rehab homes.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Brennan of Port Clinton, Ohio, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews including Alice Wroblewski of Sandusky, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Walek in 2012, by her daughter, Wilma Jean Lang in 2011, by her brother, Alfred L. Perrotte, and by her sisters, Rita Perrotte and Doris E. Bassett.
Friends may call on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
