John P. Seaman Sr., age 88, of Monroeville, died peacefully Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Gaymont Nursing Center.
He was born February 7, 1925, in Lakewood, Ohio, to the late Walter C. and Mabel (Heyman) Seaman.
He graduated high school from the Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, and served in the US Navy Air Corps from 1943 until 1946.
He received a Bachelors of Art Degree 1950 in Economics at Williams College in Williamstown, MA and was a New York Life Insurance Agent for many years. He owned Grain Merchants, Inc and was manager of Seaman McLean, Inc and Herman McLean, Inc.
He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Rotary Club of Milan, Heyman Historical Society, Mason Lodge 239 in Milan, National Fraternity Zeta Psi, past president of Firelands Counsel of Historical Society and was an avid farmer.
He is survived by his daughters, Ann (John) Kean of Cincinnati, Catharine Downing of Norwalk, Julia (Jim) Kuehlthau of Seattle and Carolyn (Mike) Schaeffer of Sandusky; sons, John Philip Seaman Jr. of Monroeville, William (Donna) Seaman of Detroit and David (Cathy) Seaman of Chicago; and 13 grandchildren, Mary, Cate, Liz, Arie, Philip, Ann Elizabeth, Gillian, Emily, Sean, Mackenzie, Matthew, Ned and Caroline.
Preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Seaman; and a grandson, Tyler Seaman.
There will be no visitation. Private interment at Milan Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
