CANAL FULTON Ione (Salabank) Grover, 84, of Canal Fulton and formerly of Norwalk, died Thursday.

She was born Sept. 1, 1923 and lived in Norwalk until her marriage. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1942. After graduation, she worked for Norwalk Truck Line and also Huron County Bank. She and her family moved to Canal Fulton in 1950.

She was active in the Church Circle Group, the P.T.A., American Legion Auxillary, and the Rotary Club wives. She also worked as secretary to the superintendent of Northwest Schools, and later worked in the Canal Fulton Mayor's office.

She is survived by her husband, George R. Grover, her high school sweetheart whom she married June 29, 1945 when he was a staff sargeant in the military; sons, Jim (JoAnn) Grover of Norwalk, Gary Grover of Canton and Kim (Suzanne) Grover of Canton, Ga.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Minnie Salabank; a sister, Bert; and daughter-in- law, Nora Grover.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home, 624 East Cherry St. (Rt. 93, Canal Fulton), where services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Canal Fulton Union Cemetery.

DORIS M. MILLER

NORWALK Doris M. Miller, 83, of Norwalk, died Friday morning at Gaymont Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 27, 1923 in Toledo, daughter of the late Nelson and Helen Mae (Stokes) Berger, and came to this area in 1962 from Vickery. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She was a former employee of Hamilton Beach Company in Norwalk.

She was a league bowler at Kenilee Lanes for many years. She was a long-standing member of the couples pinochle card club. She enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary D. Miller of Wakeman, Dennis D. and Sylvia Miller of Wakeman, and Randy A. and Betty Miller of Norwalk; a daughter, Linda S. Below of Norwalk; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Nelson and Ruth Berger of Fremont, and Richard and Barb Berger of Fremont; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Lewis Nitschke of Huron and Carol Ann and Gordon Gage of West Salem.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard D. Miller in 1998; a son, Larry W. Miller in 1971; a brother, Dave Berger; and sisters, Evelyn Huffman and Ruth Watson.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, where a service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.

SANDUSKY Stella C. Perrine, 84, of Sandusky, died Thursday at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

Stella was born Aug. 6, 1923 in Bellevue, daughter of the late Jacob G. and Veronica (Scherley) Claus.

She was a graduate of Bellevue High School in 1943 and a graduate of the Cleveland Academy of Cosmetology in 1944.

She worked at the Venice Beauty Shoppe in Cleveland, the Freechman Beauty Shoppe in the Ashford General Hospital in White Sulpher Springs, and at the Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulpher Springs, W.Va., where her husband was stationed at the time.

She was the owner-operator of Stella's Beauty Salon on Main Street in Bellevue for more than 50 years.

She was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue until moving to Sandusky following her retirement, where she was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was a resident at Providence Care Center, Sandusky for 3 1/2 years, prior to her transfer to Stein Hospice.

She is survived by sisters, Rosemary Mesenburg of Huron, Rita Welsch of Pueblo West, Colo., Eileen (Clayton) Siesel of Bellevue, Leona McLoughlin of Mechanicsville, Va.; a brother, Jake (June) Claus of Huron; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Perrine, whom she married May 3, 1945 at St. Charles Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. and who died in 1995; a sister, Alma Alt; nephews, Michael McLaughlin and Terrance Mesenburg; and a niece, Margaret Mesenberg.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Stein Hospice 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky; or to Providence Care Center, 2025 Hayes Ave, Sandusky.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue with the Rev. Keith Stripe officiating.
