WAKEMAN - John Henry Schwab, 52, of Wakeman, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday.

He was born Nov. 10, 1954 in Dayton, the son of the late Francis J. Schwab and Carolyn A. McHale Schwab of Huber Heights.

He graduated from the former Chaminade High School in Dayton in 1973 and then attended Clark Technical Institute in Springfield.

He was employed with the former Seven Limers in Bellevue, and he and his wife, Ellen, owned and operated Troy Mills Strawberry Farm in Willard for more than 20 years. He also was the office manager at Krystowski Tractor Sales for two years in Wellington.

He was a member of the former St. Sebastian's Catholic Church in rural Bellevue and the Huron County Farm Bureau. Heenjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and attending sports events for his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Bishop) Schwab, whom he married May 31, 1980 at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church; his mother, Carolyn A. Schwab of Huber Heights; sons, Jacob Paul and Samuel Francis Schwab, both at home, and Stephen Craige Schwab of Dayton; two grandchildren; brothers, Michael (Joy) Schwab of Beavercreek, Stephen (Becky) Schwab of Harbor Beach, Mich., Edward (Sharon) Schwab of Waynesville and Gerald Schwab of Columbus; sisters, Kathryn (Ray) Thomas of Huber Heights, Barbara (William) Klaco of London, Patricia Anderson of Marysville, Wash., Teresa (Danny) Magill of Middletown, Joanne (Jack) Hubbard of Milan, Ann (Anthony) Sutphin of Canal Fulton, and Paula (Daniel) Wathen of Miamisburg; his mother-in-law, Rita A. Bishop of Monroeville; a brother-in-law, Gregory F. Bishop of Lajolla, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father in 2003; and his father-in-law, Paul F. Bishop in 1997.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St, Bellevue, 44811, where a wake service will take place at 3:45 p.m. A burial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Monroeville. Burial will follow in St Sebastian's Church Cemetery.
