Gillmor to lie in state Tuesday in the Statehouse

COLUMBUS (AP) The body of U.S. Rep. Paul Gillmor (R-Tiffin) will lie in state Tuesday in the Statehouse where he spent 21 years in the Ohio Senate, six as its leader.

Gillmor, 68, was found dead Wednesday in his apartment near Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia by aides who became concerned when he failed to show up for morning meetings. A story about his death appears today on Page A-1.

The following is a schedule of services:

9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday Gillmor lies in state in the Statehouse Rotunda, Columbus.

11 a.m. to noon Tuesday Memorial Service in the Statehouse Atrium, Columbus. Guests should be seated by 10:45.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday Calling hours at Camden Falls, 2460 S. Ohio 231, Tiffin.

2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday Memorial services followed by internment at the Old Fort Cemetery

Gillmor served in the Ohio Senate from 1967-89 and was its president from 1981-83 and 1985-89. He was elected to Congress in 1988.

Gillmor is survived by his wife, Karen, daughters Linda and Julie, and sons Paul Michael, Adam and Connor.
