HURON - James D. Lacy, 80, of Huron, died Friday.

He was born Aug. 19, 1927 in Cleveland and lived most of his life in Orrville, where he graduated from Orrville High School.

After high school he enlisted in World War II and served in the Army-Air Corp. He spent two years in the South Pacific Theater of Operations, where he received three commendations and an honorable discharge for his service.

He graduated with a BS in Business Administration from Ashland University in 1951.

Jim and Mary (Molas) Lacy were married for 43 years. Originally from Lorain, Mary Molas Lacy was a partner with her two brothers (Jim and Nick) in the T.N. Molas Furniture Company.

He had a distinguished career in sales throughout northern Ohio before becoming president of Quikut in Fremont, (a division of Scott & Fetzer), and then President of Bondex in Medina, (a division of R.P.M.) In 1982 he purchased the Kuhlman Instrument Company in Norwalk and ran the business for 19 years at which point he sold it to his son, Mark E. Lacy.

James Lacy was an Episcopalian, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Alladin Shrine in Columbus. He was also a member of the Sandusky Yacht Club and Elks Club, as well as the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, the Eagles of Huron and the V.F.W. of Orrville.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons and their families, John Lacy of Sarasota, Fla. and Mark and Pauline Lacy of Akron and Toledo; six grandchildren; and a brother and and his family, Jay Lacy of Lady Lakes, Fla.

He was preceded in death by an older brother, John R. Lacy; and parents, John A. Lacy and Irene Drushal Lacy and Wanda Steiner Lacy.

A private service will be held for family members. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Groff Funeral Home in Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
