Marjorie M. Kirkpatrick, 91, passed away peacefully March 23, 2013 at the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center at Firelands in New London.
She was born August 7, 1921 in Fitchville Township to Marian (Sly) and Roger Luxon. She graduated from New London High School in 1939 and attended Oberlin School of Business before marrying Robert E. (Chappy) Kirkpatrick February 12, 1944. He passed away September 18, 2010.
She worked at E. Biglow Tile Co. in New London for many years followed by several years at Advanced Drainage Systems in Norwalk. She later worked at the New London Methodist Church and Firelands Electric Co-op.
She was an extraordinary musician who played the piano by ear and used her talents in the square dance band she and Chappy formed, as well as playing with her sister Dorothy Ward.
She was an active member of the New London Grange, the New London Methodist Church and her Farm Woman's Club. She enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and reading.
She is survived by a daughter Ellen (Allen) Simmons of New London and a son Roger (Jeanne) Kirkpatrick of Jackson, Wyoming, as well as two grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher Kirkpatrick. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Ward, a sister-in-law, Jean Luxon, and brother-in law and sister-in-law, Harold and Lillian Kirkpatrick. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
A visitation and memorial service will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m., Saturday April 13, 2013 at the New London United Methodist Church with Reverend Ben Black officiating In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church, 58 East Main St., New London OH 44851, New London Grange 2401, 51000 New London-Eastern Rd., Nova OH 44859 or Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Rd., Ashland, Ohio 44805 Eastman Funeral Home, New London were in charge of arrangements.
