WAKEMAN Lyle E. Anderson, 69, of Wakeman, died Saturday morning at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

He was born Dec. 18, 1937 in Willard, son of the late Carl C. and Mildred B. (Foster) Anderson and was a lifelong area resident.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957, was a member of the Air National Guard, and the Ohio Army National Guard. He had more than 40 years in military service.

He attended the Clarksfield Methodist Church and was a graduate of Tiffin University.

He was a life member of the Norwalk American Legion Post 41, where he was a member of the color guard and honor guard serving at many military graveside services. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2743 of Norwalk, a former member of the Norwalk Eagles and Moose Lodge. He was past commander for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 62.

He was a life member of the Norwalk American Legion Post 41, where he was a member of the color guard and honor guard serving at many military graveside services. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2743 of Norwalk, a former member of the Norwalk Eagles and Moose Lodge. He was past commander for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 62.

He was a driver for veterans to the VA Hospital in Cleveland. He served on the Huron County Veteran's committee board. He liked playing music, especially the steel pedal guitar and drums.

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Hunter) Anderson of Wakeman; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Betsy Benedek of Orlando, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Terry Roy of Mt. Gilead, and Stacey and Matt Ewing of Ashville; six grandchildren; stepsons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lauren Hunter of Virginia, and Corey Wybensinger of Flordia; step daughters and son-in-law, Shelly and Scott Wybensinger of Norwalk, and Netonis Wybensinger of Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Clyde and Arlene Anderson of Monroeville, and Frank and Diane Anderson of Willard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where services will take place at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Meadowgreen Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron.
