NORTH FAIRFIELD - Kayan Kromer, 67, of North Fairfield, died early Wednesday morning in her home.
She was born June 7, 1940 in Bellevue to the late Fay D. and Elsie Vida (Stegman) Showalter and was a lifelong area resident.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper at the former W.T. Grant Co., Montgomery Wards, and was currently employed at Maxi Tire Co. of Norwalk. She was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. She enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, bowling and playing womens softball.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Gail E. Kromer, Marilyn S. and James R. Ellis, and Judy Isaac, all of Norwalk; a grandson of North Fairfield; brothers, Albert Showalter of Berlin Heights and Gus Showalter of Monroeville; sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine "Geri" Andy of Vermilion and Doris Palko of Elyria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent B. Kromer in 1999; brothers, George, Jack, Rennie and Robert Showalter; and a sister, Elsie Jane Kromer.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Paul Lamb will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Monroeville.
