Kenneth V. Ensign, Jr., 80, of New London, Ohio, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in Florida Hospital, Zephyrhills, Florida.
He was born June 22, 1932 in Fayette, Ohio, to the late Kenneth V. and Eva M. (Cook) Ensign and lived in this area most of his life.
Ken was a 23 year veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea and during the Vietnam era. He was a life member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Norwalk, Ohio. Ken was a "hobby" farmer, and drove Semi trucks for Landmark Trucking, and Interstate Trucking Co., and had worked at the Columbus Post Office. He enjoyed RV tours.
Ken is survived by his children, Kenneth V. (Susan) Ensign III of New London, Ohio, Kevin V. Ensign of Fairview, Kentucky, and Eva Marie (Ric) Casto of Denver, Colorado. 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and by his companion, Lore Gilman of Hummelstown, Pa. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Haney of Newark, Ohio. Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Myers) Ensign in 2007 and by his brother, William A. Ensign and by his sister, Violet Kessler.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, 140 Milan Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio.Interment will be in Olena Cemetery.
