Rosaria Marie (Gates) Reichert, age 94, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Gaymont Nursing Center.
She was born April 25, 1918 in Peru Township to the late William and Helen (Haupricht) Gates. She was a 1936 graduate of St. Paul High School and was an active member at St. Paul Catholic Church.
She worked at Norwalk Truck Lines from 1936 until 1946, and after raising her children began working as a payroll clerk at Fanny Farmers.
She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Paul Altar and Rosary Society, and VFW Auxiliary. She was a leader of the Firelands Fun Band for several years, 2004 Senior of the Year recipient, and loved to bowl, crochet, and knit.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Tom) Colvin, Thomas (Susan) Reichert, Joan Reichert, and Richard (Adelaide) Reichert; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband to whom she married June 22, 1946, Edward G. Reichert in 1998; son, John Reichert in 1955; a daughter, Mary Reichert in 1959; brothers, William, John and Aloysius Gates; and a sister, Incarnata Gillig.
Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Monsignor Ken Morman, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
