NORWALK Julius Weiss, 78, of Norwalk, died early Tuesday morning at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born Sept. 1, 1928 in Germany to the late Karl and Ottillie (Holz) Weiss and came to this area from Cleveland in 1973.
He was a member of Alcoholic Anonymous. He retired from Local No. 42 Norwalk Pipefitters Union. He enjoyed travel and computers.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elfriede (Zerbin) Weiss of Norwalk; sons and daughter-in-law, John Weiss of Streamwood, Ill., Jerry and Lidia Weiss of Newbern, N. Ca. and George Weiss of Elyria; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Tom Salliotte of Taylor, Mich.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brothers Otto, Karl, Ewald and Hugo Weiss all of Germany; and sisters, Lydia Martin of Germany and Susanna Weiss of Holland.
He was preceded in death by his sons, James Weiss in 1983 and an infant son, Manuel Weiss.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday.
