Bernard "Bernie" Zimmerman, age 85, of Mansfield, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Country Meadows Care Center in Bellville, OH.
He was born July 7, 1927 in Monroeville to the late Joseph Martin and Clara Rosina (Burgel) Zimmerman. He attended the Pontifical College Josephinum and served in the US Navy. In his earlier years he was a cameraman for WBNS TV Station in Columbus. He then worked as an insurance agent for Equitable Life Insurance Company in Mansfield for many years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Mansfield and enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by his children, Marti (Doug) Mizer, Theodore "Ted" (Jeannine) Zimmerman, Gregory "Greg" Zimmerman, Barbara "Bobbie" Zimmerman, Antonia "Toni" Watson and Veronica "Ronnie" Zimmerman; five grandchildren; brothers, Richard Zimmerman and Harold Zimmerman, both of Norwalk; sister, Mary Zimmerman of Sandusky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Jane (England) Zimmerman in 1970; brothers, Edwin, Donald, Herman, Raymond and Alfred Zimmerman; sisters, Mildred Miller and Pauline Smith.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2:00 until time of service at 4:00 P.M at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Private interment will be held at Mansfield Cemetery.
