Albert E. Miller, Jr., 84, of Norwalk, Ohio died January 1, 2013 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio, after a lengthy illness.
He was born June 10, 1928 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Albert E. and Florence A. (Tucker) Miller, Sr.
Albert was raised in Lima, Ohio and came to Norwalk in 1957. He was a Sergeant in the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army during W. W. II. Albert was a graduate of Tiffin University and was a member of its first basketball team.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and had worked with his father at Miller Filter Manufacturing Corp. in Monroeville, Ohio. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio as a Master Scheduler and Production Supervisor with 20 years of service and was a former State Farm Insurance Agent.
Albert was a past president of the Lefty Grove League and umpired and coached numerous youth sports events.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Margaret (Clapp) Miller and by his children, Anne (Mike) Bickley, Mary (Jim) Lewellen, Theresa (Mike) Weisenberger, Al (Audrey) Miller, Margaret (Dennis) Stieber, Chris Miller and Kevin Miller, 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Albert was preceded in death by his sisters, Janette Spreen and Donna Jean Brown, by two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends may call on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12:00 Noon in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Frank Kehres will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion.
