NORWALK - Richard D. Becker, 82, of Norwalk, died Sunday night at Fremont Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
He was born Dec. 28, 1924 in Norwalk to the late Richard D. and Blanche (Martin) Becker and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a veteran of the Army serving in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge with the 13th Airborne Division receiving the EAME Theater Medal with five Bronze Stars. He was a life member of Firelands Post No. 2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Cedar Bay Construction Company of Sandusky in 1987 and was a former employee of Bay Construction Company of Norwalk. He enjoyed oil painting, hiking, gardening and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his daughter, Andrea (Becker) Ribble of Winter Garden, Fla.; sons and daughter-in-law, Ron and Betsy Becker of Winter Garden, Fla. and Tom Becker of Castle Rock, Colo.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada A. Becker in 2004; and a sister, Cathy (Smith) Pflieger.
Funeral services will be private.
