NEW LONDON Russell E. "Russ" Saunders, 76, of New London, died Thursday at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk after a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 20, 1930 in North Royalton, son of the late, Kirk and Bessie (Wilson) Saunders. He was a graduate of North Royalton High School and had served in the Air Force. He had lived in the New London area since 1968.

He worked as an over-the-road truck driver. He also owned and operated the New London Sewing Center and later Covers by Saunders. He drove school bus for New London schools. He was active in the New London High School Music Boosters and had served on the New London school board.

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Stevens) Saunders; sons and daughters-in-law, Vance and Kathy Saunders of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Kirk and Renee Saunders of Matthews, N.C. and Brett and Joy Saunders of Norwalk; a daughter and son-in-law, June and Bill Baker of North Fairfield; stepsons and their wives, Michael and Terri Stevens, Christopher and Jenny Stevens, Robert Stevens and Mark and Renee Stevens, all of Greenwich; and 10 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a stepgreat-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharlee "Shar" Saunders on Aug. 31, 1991; and sisters, Doris Wilson and Lee Chidsey; and a brother, Keith Saunders.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Ernest C. Robles will officiate. Burial will follow in Fitchville Cemetery.

DALE L. ADAMS

WILLARD Dale L. Adams, 58, of Willard, died Thursday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born Dec. 9, 1948 in Willard, and had been a resident of Willard all of his life. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era.

He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing softball and he loved the Buckeyes, Yankees and Willard sports.

He is survived by his son, Paul L. Adams of Willard; his mother, Nora (Harvey) Adams of Willard; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma (Jerry) Patton of Dayton; brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Michelle) Adams and Rickey (Sarah) Adams of Willard; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Adams.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Secor Funeral Home in Willard. A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley S. Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.

SANDUSKY Charles R. "Chuck" Reichley, 48, of Sandusky, died Thursday at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky following a lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 21, 1958 in Nassawadox, Va. and was a 1976 graduate of Huron High School. He served his apprenticeship with Union Local 42, Norwalk, where he became a journeyman pipefitter. He worked out of the union. He was an avid deer and pheasant hunter, and loved to hunt his with dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, the former Nina L. Wenner; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Chris Studer of Huron; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Teresa Reichley of Huron; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and May Elizabeth (Flynn) Reichley Sr.; and his grandmother, Nannie Belle Flynn.

Memorial services will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main Street, Huron.
