MONROEVILLE - Dale K. "Pat" Elder, 65, of Monroeville, died Monday at his home in rural Monroeville.
He was born March 17, 1942 in Detroit to the late Dale Kermit Sr. and Frances Selina (Smith) Elder, former Fireside residents.
He graduated from Thompson High School in 1960 and attended Heidelberg College. He retired as superintendent of the NS Railroad Terminal in Bellevue in March 2000 after more than 20 years of working at various railroad towns.
He was a member of the Lyme Congregational United Church of Christ; the Lyme Historical Village; the Bellevue Railroad Museum; the Bellevue Masonic Temple; the Bellevue Development Group; Bellevue Hospital Development Council; and had been president of the Local United Transportation Union, and also served in different positions in this Union.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Close) Elder, whom he married July 20, 1963; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Kermit Elder III and Kelly of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Erick Michael and Leigh Anne Elder of Little Rock, Ark.; four granddaughters; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert D. Elder of Bellevue, James F. and Ruthann Elder of San Jose, Calif., Michael C. and Janice Elder of Sartoga, Calif.; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Carl Thompson of Corona, Calif. and Kay and Daryl Koroluck of Riverside, Calif.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lyme Congregational United Church of Christ. The Revs. Gene Hegemier and Cliff Munger will officiate assisted by Elder's brother, the Rev. Michael Elder. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
