SANDUSKY Opal F. (Sister Opal) Pierce, 69, of Sandusky, died Friday in the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born Nov. 2, 1939 in Louisa, Ky. to the late Elbert and Lida (Wallace) Castle and had lived most of her life in this area.
She was a member of the Mt. Harvest Church of God. She was an ordained evangelist and preached in many area churches. She enjoyed shopping for bargains and loved spending time with her family and helping others.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Carl A. Pierce of Sandusky; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sheila Santiago of Norwalk, Jerry and Becky Santiago of El Paso, Texas, Joey and Felicia Santiago of Sandusky, Jeffrey E. and Wendy Santiago of Huron, Scottie A. Santiago of Norwalk; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene S. and Loren Slavik of Norwalk, Connie S. and Melvin Zayas of Norwalk; a step daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Brett McClain of Galion; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Melanie Pierce of Perrysville; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Janet Castle of Norwalk; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel Hicks of Norwalk, Racheal and Bob Sommers of Elyria, Aleen and Francis Dillman of Norwalk, Joyce Castle of Orlando, Fla., and Peggy Castle of Sandusky and Donna and Carol Smith of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Aladino Santiago in 1983; and brothers, George, Harold and Roy "Buck" Castle.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Harvest Church of God, 150 Ohio 113, W., Milan, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Joey Santiago and Rev. Carl Woodyard will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Berlin Heights.
