NORWALK - Ingeborg May, 82, of Norwalk, died Tuesday at her home after a three year extended illness.
She was born July 22, 1924, in Zweibruecken, Germany to the late Theodor Koerner and Augusta (Kellner) Koerner and graduated from the Zweibruecken Hochschule. She immigrated to the USA in 1952. She resided in Yonkers, N.Y. and then Columbus, Parma, Broadview Hts. and Norwalk.
She worked as a medical assistant, medical laboratory technician/director, homemaker, and daycare center provider. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed cooking and baking, specializing in German cuisine and torte. Her hobbies included crocheting, intricate lace needlework, being an avid Browns/Buckeyes fan, and returning often to her homeland. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Norwalk.
She is survived by her brother, Theodor Koerner of Zweibruecken, Germany; her children, one son-in-law and three daughters-in-law, Jeannette Funk and Jan Krenczer of Herne, Germany, Christine May of Clyde, Ralph and Tamara May of Norwalk, Rupert and Susan May of Waterloo, N. Y. and Manfred and Donna May of Brunswick; nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and her very good friend, Ilse Slygh.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to the time of service at 7 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Mark Bogen will officiate. She will be buried at a later date with her parents in Zweibruecken, Germany.
