NORWALK Jean (Cronk) Swartz, 86, of Norwalk, died Thursday morning at Twilight Gardens Home in Norwalk.
She was born July 6, 1920 in Findlay to the late Clarence Mahlon Cronk and Hazel Fern (Rathburn) Cronk.
In her early years, she was best known for service in the Girls Scouts of America, in which she served as a leader of Troop 62 for more than six years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church and its choir for many years. Later in life she was known to many as owner of the Norwalk Travel Service for over 30 years. In that capacity she was fortunate to have traveled to 96 countries around the world.
She is survived by her daughters, LaWana (Swartz) Moroski of Atlanta, Ga. and Stasia (Swartz) Billiard of Norwalk; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. Swartz in 1969; a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Wib) Ryerson; and a brother, James M. Cronk.
There will be a graveside service held 11 a.m. Saturday at Milan Cemetery.
