ASHLAND Ruth M. Krieg, 91, of Ashland, died Friday at her home after an extended period of failing health.

She was born Dec. 10, 1915 in Nova to the late Perry and Clara (Storrow) Simonson.

She was a graduate of Ruggles High School. On Nov. 4, 1939 in the Old Stone Church in Cleveland, she married the love of her life, Warren F. Krieg. On their honeymoon they went to Niagara Falls on motorcycles. They lived in Cleveland until June 1954, when they moved to a farm, next to the family farm where Ruth was born. She and Warren farmed and when he passed away Aug. 21, 1960 she continued farming and raising five children. She had farmed for over 45 years and worked at National Latex, where she retired from after several years. In 1994 she retired from farming and moved to Ashland.

She was a member of the Ruggles Church and the neighborhood Happy Hour Club. She loved to fish and was an avid reader, but treasured traveling with her children most of all. She was strong, independent, caring, helpful and loving. She was her children's best friend.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Oehling of Dillon, Mont., Mary Ann and Neil Edwards of Ashland and Debra F. Krieg of Ashland; a son and daughter-in-law, Louis W. and Margie Krieg of Loudonville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Frazier of Nova; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Shirley Simonson of Nova; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and special family member, Becky (Anderson) Gilbert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren F. Krieg; a daughter, Donna Jean Jackson; a grandson, Scott Warren Oehling; sisters, Lucille Harpster and Dorothy Ciphers; brothers, Perry Simonson and Oscar Simonson; and parents-in-law, Louis and Dorothy (Jaeger) Krieg.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Martin Daly will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery.
