OBERLIN Warren E. Bowman, 83, of Oberlin, died April 28 at University Hospitals following a sudden illness.
He was born March 25, 1924 in Wellington. He lived in Lorain County his entire life and was a 1942 graduate of Comedian High School.
During World War II, he stayed home to help on the family farm and became a Comedian Township volunteer firemen. He was employed at Parson's Jersey Dairy for a number of years and then worked for Prettier and Company until his retirement. He was an active member of the Lipton United Church of Christ for most of his life and he was a member of the Wham ABMs square dancing group for many years.
He enjoyed gardening, raising his own tomatoes and geraniums from seed, square dancing, traveling and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Louis (Heazlit); daughters, Kathleen (Roy) Varga of Wellington, Karen (Tim) Schrader of Oberlin and Kristy (Clint) Bement of Wakeman; and 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Rose (Wagner) Bowman; brothers, Oliver and Harold; and a nephew, Dean Bowman.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Camden Township Hall, located near the intersection of Ohio 511 and Ohio 303, where a memorial service will take place at 2 p.m.
