NORWALK — Ralph F. Ritzenthaler Sr., 78, of Norwalk, died Wednesday at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
He was born Aug. 29, 1928 to the late Ralph and Estil (Ruse) Ritzenthaler.
He was married to his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (Davie) Ritzenthaler July 4, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Sandusky. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk, a member of the Bronson Norwalk Conservation Club and a former member of the IAB Club in Sandusky. He was a 1946 Norwalk High School graduate. He worked for the former Standard Oil Co., the Gulf Oil Co. and was in the auto sales business for 30 years, working for Ebert & Son Motor Sales, Warehouse AMC/Jeep, Sandvick Motor Sales and Bill Klaus Cadillac dealerships, retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, along with boating, fishing, woodworking and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Norwalk; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph F. Jr. and Debi Ritzenthaler of Norwalk, Thomas G. and Jean Ritzenthaler of Norwalk, Dennis E. and Toni Ritzenthaler of Norwalk; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann M. and Michael Englert of Willard; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Gayle Watson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph F. Ritzenthaler in 1951; and his mother, Estil (Ruse) Ritzenthaler in 1959.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, where a rosary service will take place at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
