What would have been really great was if the Rejector had put something on the site several days ago, telling everyone that Main Street was going to be shut down all day. That way those of us who were stuck in the resulting traffic would have known to avoid the area.
@ Whopper...... they did .... you must have missed it..
This was nothing in comparison to years past..Where were the motorcycles that really kicked everything off? No vendors..
The problem is the previous administration became so anti festival canceling any that used to be fun that no one seems to know what to do any more. I agree, that was about as lame as it gets. Why bother? Get an organizer that can really get the people down town rain or shine.
@ Uput..... what a great idea.. in fact if they could get someone to volunteer for that it could be amazing..... You seem to have a vision and plan in mind.... why don't you try to organize it for next year???
The Thunder group is trying to bring this once awesome event back to the way it was in its heyday. It was nice seeing people out enjoying the event but we have lots of work to do to make it better next year.
This year was a start. We know what we did right. We'll figure out what we did wrong. It'll get better year after year. More volunteers are always welcome to bring input and help make it live up to its potential.
Bring back the parade of bikes, by the way thats where the term streets of thunder got its start, when we rode our Harleys into town and then down the track, more food vendors, games, rides and bands. Those are just a few to start. Work with the local bars and shops too.
These are all great ideas and are on the list for things to improve on next year. Bikes were something we talked about and thinking back I can't remember why that didn't work this year but it is something we hope to be able to work into the event going forward.
Should have tried to work with dealership in Sandusky. I'm sure they would have been more than happy to help organize a ride from there to downtown. I participated in the first thunder in the streets and it was huge and a lot of fun. The local bars also helped organize events in conjunction with thunder in the streets. Just a funny note, was going to try and shorten it to its initials so I didn't have to type it. Now that's would make a great shirt! Lol
That's a good idea. As for the shops uptown, I haven't had a chance to speak with any other owners yet but my shop had a very busy day. Always happy to have new faces come in the door. Could have been even better had the weather cooperated for us.
How do I get in contact with someone about possibly helping with next year??
The best place to go would be Main Street Norwalk's facebook page. The admins are pretty active and there is contact info on that page as well.
is night under fire at the race track free this weekend ??????some one let me know.
