State Rep. Terry Boose, Democratic challenger Matt Lark and Libertarian challenger Robert Sherwin took turns speaking during the Norwalk Reflector-sponsored debate featuring candidates in the 57th district race Wednesday night at the St. Paul Convocation Center. Reflector Managing Editor Joe Centers served as the moderator. Look for a story about the debate on the front page of Thursday's Reflector. Enjoy these pictures taken by Jeff Van Natta.

Come on - a red curtain!!! Man, how much can this paper promote Boose! Everyone know the Republicans use red, and then it's the color of the curtain at the debate! That's a subliminal message to vote for him! Boo!
I hope everyone who reads this comment has a chuckle. It was purely meant as a funny.
@ Guy on a Buffalo:
Actually, red was the original color for the Dems on the electoral maps until CBS changed it.
Guess the Dems didn't want the color red associated with them. I wonder why?
Subscribing to the NR yet or are ya still slumming?
Can you not read? My comment says it was meant as a funny, or joke. Seriously, you have issues Contango. A comprehension refresher course may be needed for you! Check your local elementary schools for help.
As for your other question, I am still slumming. Can't afford to pay for the paper as I am saving my money to cut a check to my local school district, per your advice.
Thanks for the tidbit about the CBS electoral map thing - I never knew that!
@ Guy on a Buffalo:
Lucky for you that the "edit" key works and that you can edit your post accordingly (as can I).
If you want people to know it's supposed to be funny try an emotocon like ":)"
behind the statement.
You can't afford $16.00 for 13 wks of the epaper? Wow! The city schools will probably give the teachers a raise when they get your check.
My "advice"? In the name of "social justice," the Dems tend to just steal what they need. Are you sure that you're in the correct political party?
According to the NR, it reads like Sherwin and Boose within certain degrees tended to agree with each other. The "debate" read like 2 against 1.
Are you as sick of this election as I am? It feels like we've been hearing ads since June! I can't wait for it to be over!
And why do you keep assuming I am in a party? I have never stated that I am an R or a D.
Also, are you asking me to edit my post? And how do you do a smiley face?
Where is the edit post?I have dragged my mice all over the page and can't locate it !Kidding !

Please VOTE. We get the government we deserve. Last elections the turnout was sad. (low)
How fortunate we are with winnie always sharing his wealth of knowledge on all subjects, how lucky to be exposed to the great one of Norwalk. His vast knowledge will amaze all, especially himself as long as cut & paste and Wikipedia exists.
This was sarcasm winnie.
Boose has had his shot. NEXT!!!! Break the status quo in November and throw the incumbents out!!

@ Whitebuffalo:
So you're voting for Mr. Sherwin?
Mr. Lark reads like more tax, borrow and spend; the same wrongheaded ideas that got OH into fiscal trouble in the first place.
A libertarian has to be better than the current incumbent parties!! I think Ron Paul should be president too!
@ Whitebuffalo:
There ya go!
I was active in the Libertarian Party back in the early 90s.
I once had dinner with Andre Marrou and Nancy Lord; the '92 Pres. and VP Libertarian Party candidates.
Now I'm just a "libertarian"; live 'pretty much' however you want, just don't ask me to pay for it or interfere with my life.
We could really use some folks to start a Libertarian group in Huron County. We have a very active group in Lorain County, but nothing in Huron. Contact any one of us through http://loraincountylibertarians..... I have spoke to plenty of Libertarian, or Libertarian minded folks out your way. I think we could peak enough interest to get something going.
@ WhitebuFFalo : Was going to attend this debate last night, till I read Mr. Larks " usual and customary" political remarks on the "Reflector" op-ed page. Then toss in the really great L.A. Times essay on the learned "practice of politicans saying absolutelity nothing" when given the chance too. ( Re-read Mr. Lark's comments, see if you agree he said nothing) And I figured, " Why waste my time for more of the same 'nothingness'?"
Further,I --like you--- have become a "libertarian" and Mr. Sherwood's op-ed page comments on bringing the troops home----which the state govt's can do---to an extant, warmed me .Then toss in his common sense approach, to "government" and I for one,say go " libertarians" ! So I welcome you to our small, yet growing club.
Sadly, because of tradition, the "Libertarian" time has not,yet come, has it? So I am going to vote for Terry Boose, not just because he his very close to being ---in my opinion,a 'libertarian' his own self.
More importantly, given the chance to "explain " himself he doesn't sound like a "politician" to me like Mr. Lark does. ( Would you agree ?)And after all;Isn't not being a "politician" ,what being a " libertarian" is all about?
P.S. Bet you couldn't name a single Hunkpapa nor Ogalla warrior from yester year that wouldn't both support Ron Paul, nor be a 'libertarian' :)
Thank you for the kind words. I have been fighting both Lark and Boose, as well as the IfYouBelieve group and the Boose Reflector now for some time and I am getting tired. I am running my campaign on a shoestring budget with NO money from special interest groups or union PACS. I wouldn't take their money anyhow. I would feel cheap, and it would be against my principles to do otherwise. I realize that the odds are greatly stacked against me, but I have been working damn hard to get my message out. To those of you who (anmd there are several)who have commented in kind to me in these forums I truely appreciate it. Please tell your freinds and family that they do have a true third choice this year. I am NOT a politician and hold allegiances to nobody except the voters of the 57th district and the citizens of Ohio. One more way you can help me...I still have pleny of yard signs available. If you would like one dropped off, or know of anyone else who may want one, please contact me at sherwinforohio57@yahoo.com. It makes me feel good to read comments like this. Thank you!!
I'll be voting for Mr. Sherwin. Boose and Lark represent more of the same.
I thank you for that!
I'm surprised they actually gave Mr. Sherwin the correct date. They must have forgot this time to give him the "It's on Oct. 8th" slip.
Thanks for giving me a little chuckle. I could use it right about now.
