Matt Romney was in Huron County on Tuesday attending a volunteer appreciation event at the county Republican Party headquarters on 12 Benedict Ave, Norwalk. Romney is the second of five sons born to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann. A story about the visit was published on the front page of Tuesday's Reflector. Enjoy these pictures taken by Jeff Van Natta.

Really hard to decide which presidential candidate 'cares' more.
The Obama campaign sends a gas guzzling RV out to New Horizons and has a muppet deliver a flaccid speech.
The Romney campaign sends one of his kids to spout platitudes and glad hand.
After all this local election yr. 'excitement and hoopla,' can Norwalkians be assured of a brighter and more prosperous community from either of these political sock puppets or are they just interested in a vote?
@ Contango: At the risk of sounding like a suck-up.You sure do make my mornings with your political commentarys. Since,Andrew Jackson, whom I have a hunch would really clean up Washington, can't run.Again my write -in vote is going to "Contango Smith".
Did you read this morning of the price increases in commoditys since the fed leaked that QE3 was coming or of the riot in Greece over 'austerity measures or my favorite; The price increases in homes in 'Fairfax' county Virginia ( Washington,D.C.) ? To me these events are --or should be-- what the domestic agenda should be about. Obviously,no issues outweigh the wars are children are fighting ( Or will be fighting Iran/Syria)
Quick history note: Took the kids years ago to see George Washington's " Mt.Vernon" home. Got a good laugh as Sally Fairfax's carriage was on display near his tomb.Of course,ol' George had written Sally some letters, that confirmed him as at least a big time flirt. And this while both were married. " The more things change......"
P.S. I realize one vote for you isn't going to put you in the White House. However,it is a start :)
@ CC: Thanks for the kudos.
However, vote for Gary Johnson (L). He's got a much better shot. I probably agree with about 90% of what he advocates.
Mr. Jackson kinda bothered me 'greatly' with the "Indian Removal Act."
My spouse is 1/32nd Cherokee. "Trail of Tears" ya know?
Yep! Keepin' a close eye on Europe. Events there will have a 'trickle-down' effect here. Some economists believe that the contagion for the Great Depression began in Europe.
@ Contango: I may change from my habit of writing in candidates for a Mr.Johnson vote.Yet, 36 year old habit's are hard to break, aren't they ? So the chances of me writing in you are very good
Don't blame you for your problem's with "Ol' Hickory" no doubt he was ruthless.( check out his campaign against the Seminoles)Which is why,I want some one like him in Washington. Certainly, the place needs cleaned out.
If I might make a sidebar note again refering to Mr.Jackson. Way to often,in my opinion a politician is judged for one thing-- in this case " The trail of tears". All the while we the people leave out dozens, perhaps hundreds of things they did right. So I believe,as no doubt you do in maximizing the amount of information one has to work with,so as to make the best possible decision.
Having said that,it truly sickens me that Mr.Obama won't put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. Which of course makes me that word that the actor " Hippocritus " sent down to us from ancient times :)
@CC:
"Hundreds of things they did right"? Depends on whose 'ox is being gored.'
I've pondered on the question of how I would feel about the U.S. if my innocent loved ones were "collateral damage" in a drone strike. I might tend to feel like siding up with the opposition.
I'd like to see us get out of the world police role. Fiscally that may not be that far away.
My favorite of the day:
How many in the Obama Admin. does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
One. Pres. Obama holds it while the universe revolves around him.
@ Contango: You/me/everybody ---knows--- how they would feel if they were innocently on the end of an American drone. It would be instant hatered, would it not ?
Like you,I too am an isolationist. I also, have no problem understanding why so many members of the family of man hate us----we won't mind our own business ! Hopefully, those fiscal restraints, you wrote of,will bring our people home, soon
Depends on whose " ox is being gored" always has.Yet,if one is not exceptionally selfish or too egocentric or didn't get their ox gored. One can find,I believe in any leaders administration some "common good" ( And of course, here we diFFer greatly)

Wow those photos tell a lot. Most of those people represent American area not know to me. Saw only 1vet. Roger did you ask Terry about our jobs going away?
Two things - First, did Duncan take a day off to attend this afternoon rally, or are the taxpayers paying him to represent his party instead of the city? Second, why so many darn pictures of Boose's signs - seriously, how said is it that the Reflector is all about this guy? A free ad, I mean, story, every week, pictures of his signs. It will be sad when Boose wins after the paper gave Lark no chance. Just because his wife used to work there...sad.
When the ReflectorCam's are back online, check out the pictures of the spectators at the 4th of July parade -- yellow "Lark" hand fans in almost every one of the pictures. So why wouldn't there be Boose signs in pictures taken at Republican Headquarters? Despite what has always been said, there's never been such a thing as "equal time". Incumbents always get more press -- that's just the way it goes.
Looks like a lot of old white people....certainly not a snapshot of America.
Of course it is.......all the younger people are in the unemployment line. ;-)
@ tcj1985:
Get used to it.
By 2020, 25% of the population of Norwalk will be seniors. The median age is climbing in Huron Co.
Every yr. the best and the brightest continue to leave for opportunities elsewhere leaving the old, the infirmed and the increasingly impoverished.
Check out the 2010 U.S. Census. Every community in Huron Co. lost population except Norwalk which gained about 800 residents.

tcj1985 "Looks like a lot of old white people....certainly not a snapshot of America." They are the people who took the personal risks, worked hard to make this country great. The younger Republicans, at work paying the taxes to support the give me everything free supporters of Obbie.....
As for the Mayor attending, our former left wing mayor would have dedicated another park for the "why should I work" when the government will take care of me, aka liberals and call it Freebie Democrapper Place....
HOPE HIS DAD HAS A JOB FOR HIM?HE HELP GIVE ALL OURS TO CHINA!!!
@ TOPGUN01:
Americans like their stuff 'cheap'. And based on the number of Pres. Obama supporters they want it 'free' too.
This country has been in an economic depression since Dec. 2007. The crisis has been purposefully kept under-the-radar. But eventually it will become evident to all but the most naive and gullible.
In 2012, govt. supplied 'checks in the mail' have replaced 1930s bread lines.
The number of Americans dependent upon the govt. for financial survival is growing exponentially. This will not end well.

LOL...yeah, because it's never been mentioned in the news, or anything. Nice one, Captain Obvious.
@ betrump:
"Obvious"?
According to the "officials," we were 'never' in a "depression."
"Officially" the 'recession' ended in June '09.
The number of Americans receiving govt. assistance growing exponentially has been largely downplayed by the Admin. and the media.
Love your "civil" tone.
OUR TRADE BILL WAS CHANGED BY THE REPUBLIC PARTY TO PAY WITH TAX CREDIT TO SEND OUR JOBS OVER SEAS!AND IT CHANGED WAY BEFORE DEC 2007!
