Readers' Choice Awards voting runs through Saturday

Voting is under way in the Norwalk Reflector’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

Nearly 1,000 people made 6,709 nominations in the three-week voting period that began in early July and ended Friday. The top five nominees in each category moved to the voting stage. Some categories may have fewer than five choices depending on the number of nominees.

The voting period runs through Saturday. Voters can vote once per day per category during that period.

“We were overwhelmed by the response to the request for nominations,” said Reflector publisher Andy Prutsok. “Being our first effort at an online ballot contest, we had no idea what to expect. We appreciate the active participation of our readers and look forward to the fun continuing through August.”

The Sandusky Register has been sponsoring a Reader’s Choice Awards contest for years for which Huron County businesses were eligible to be nominated. Prutsok noted, however, that local businesses were at a tremendous disadvantage to businesses located in Erie County, with whom the Register’s readers were more familiar.

“It was time for Norwalk and Huron County residents to get their exclusive say on which are their favorite businesses and service providers in the area,” he said.

Winners, who will receive plaques to display in their businesses, will be announced in a printed “Winner’s Edition” to be published on Sept. Sept. 28.
